Painting exercises

As a third-year painter and intermedia student (Kinga Juhász and Zsombor Pólya) of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, we created a creative couple.

We experimented with a painting practice whose every moment is documented and artistic decisions can be traced.

We first came up with 43 exercises that are constantly expanding with new ideas. These mean strict time, technical and construction rules. In the summer of 2011, 2012, 2013, we implemented 16 plans, so 20 larger oil paintings were made. We moved from “easier” exercises to “harder” ones. The images are built on top of each other and represent a complex process.
